Contacting someone in this way is unreliable, as the person you intend to call will need to make themself available as well as use the same software as you are using if you wish to make an Internet phone call to them. While voice chat can be a great way of keeping in touch in a casual manner, it certainly isn't a good Internet phone option for most business uses or for emergency phone calls. Essentially, voice chat is best used as a supplement to another, more convenient, form of Internet phone service.
